How beautiful is the future! As\u00a0beautiful\u00a0as the past. Life is fleeting.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I sold my car for 6,000\u20ac and decided to go to London. I put a graph in excel which showed\u00a0me, with\u00a0my monthly costs, when I would get to zero and have to\u00a0go back home. April it said, but now I realize that it would have be even earlier. 7h per\u00a0day dedicated to find a job: Applying for roles, updating and customizing CVs, receiving calls, learning English, etc. This sounds like a plan, I told them. And so the adventure began.<\/p>\n<h2>5 years later<\/h2>\n<p>&#8230;And having just read the fourth letter now I was talking about my new company already, and I am still working closely with General Electric, top 10 worldwide\u00a0company, which we, together with my team, manage\u00a0all their\u00a0online advertising (on Google, on Twitter , Linkedin, Facebook, etc). I love this brand and the people who make decisions in it. They see me as a partner and trust me.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, with all the support from\u00a0MEC (media agency owned by WPP, another top), which values \u200b\u200band motivates me every day.<\/p>\n<p>So much\u00a0that I decided to write a book on how small businesses can own and control their online presence. I hope I can say in my next letter that it&#8217;s\u00a0already published! There&#8217;s nothing like to make a challenge public to multiply by 3 the pressure, while push you to do it too.<\/p>\n<h2>Beyond London and Mallorca<\/h2>\n<p>In all my letters I mentioned London so much, obviously, and Mallorca, obviously. But this after 5 years, I have learned that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mallorca is irreplaceable and that my future is there.<\/li>\n<li>London is my second home and I want it to be my &#8220;cottage&#8221; a place I go often. I&#8217;ve been five years in my cottage&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cuba.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2779\" src=\"http:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cuba.jpg\" alt=\"cuba\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cuba.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cuba-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cuba-980x735.jpg 980w, https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cuba-700x525.jpg 700w, https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cuba-573x430.jpg 573w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>But this year was incredible discovering more. If not better, but more. Live in the epicenter of the map allows us\u00a0to connect easily with the rest of the world:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Havana<\/strong> and <strong>Varadero<\/strong> (Cuba): A fantastic and so different culture, postcard-beaches in Varadero and all the people playing and dancing during the day in any restaurant downtown.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tulum<\/strong> and <strong>Mahahual<\/strong> (Mexico): Impressive Mayan history visiting Chich\u00e9n Itz\u00e1 (one\u00a0<em>wonderful <\/em>less\u00a0to see), and incredible beaches in Mahaual. All from\u00a0the hand of my brother Juanjo, whose ability to survive and adapt to places and situations, work and love is admirable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New York<\/strong> (USA): Perhaps the city with more expectation and bigger disappointment. Its problem is to be compared with London, which is hard. Its park Central Park surrounded by skyscrapers with a couple of trees is far from our Richmond Park with deers, the forest in Hampstead or the preciousness of St James Park next to Buckingham Palace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Its\u00a0traffic congestion in downtown Manhattan, with its big\u00a0cars stopped, polluting and whistling in addition to the other sensory inputs in\u00a0my body: Most streets smelling of garbage from restaurants that leave their bags on the sidewalk in front of their door and \u00a0hot air conditioning going out to\u00a0my face directly from refrigerated stores. (I was there in summer, I&#8217;ll add).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/usa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2781\" src=\"http:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/usa.jpg\" alt=\"usa\" width=\"1270\" height=\"619\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/usa.jpg 1270w, https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/usa-300x146.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/usa-1024x499.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bernatriera.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/usa-573x279.jpg 573w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1270px) 100vw, 1270px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Berlin<\/strong>, <strong>Paris<\/strong>, <strong>Formentera<\/strong> and <strong>Amsterdam<\/strong>: European beautiful places with history and stories.<\/li>\n<li>And this year is to come <strong>Thailand<\/strong> and <strong>Barcelona.<\/strong> How great is the world, so many\u00a0things happening and how little we impact on\u00a0them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s not just where, but also when and who with. Who you travel with, who\u00a0you share weekends or Tuesday nights with\u00a0&#8230; and that partner is named\u00a0Ester.<\/p>\n<p>She came to London to be with me and she was also liked\u00a0by the English city. I can&#8217;t reveal her\u00a0professional success here, but she\u00a0could write letters from London by 3 on 3.<\/p>\n<p>She is gorgeous, like London, but I\u00a0will get used to the beauty, I already said. And at\u00a0the end you have to choose with whom you spend your time (You remember?), and she is a great person to spend time with.<\/p>\n<p>My London became incarnate in a female body, a Majorcan body indeed. Funny!<\/p>\n<p>A toast for\u00a0the new\u00a0places in the world that I have visited this year, and for the people around me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The most important is to have a cable\u00a0tied to your homeland that allows you to travel relaxed in case\u00a0you get lost.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Context&#8230; After 364 days looking ahead\u00a0to the future, comes the day that I sit down, order a bottle of red wine and write my letter from London looking backwards.
